Watching This Show Made Me Crazy Clean Over the Weekend!
I am far from the clean person in my family. My older sister Aileen is the most organized and neat person ever. She is definitely the sister who always has a presentable home. My house looks like toddlers had a free play session in the kitchen and living room. My room has laundry that I swore I would fold 9 weeks ago. I realize I wear the same 10 outfits because it's what I wash regularly. After seeing so many people post about watching "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo" I had to jump on the Netflix bandwagon.
"Tidying Up with Marie Kondo" follows the KonMari method is a system of simplifying and organizing your home. You do this by throwing out or donating items that don't bring you joy. KonMari teaches you to ask a simple question when you go about tidying up your house. "Does this item bring you joy?" If the answer is "No" you put it in a bag or box and thank the item. I felt horrid for throwing out a shirt I never wore, with tags still on it. My lesson in throwing it out? I don't like the way that type of shirt looks on me, so I don't spend money on that style again.
After watching 3 episodes non-stop I brought 3 trash bags and FILLED them with clothes I had not worn in years. Yeah, I looked like I work for the Mafia and I was doing away with multiple bodies in front of my neighbors. Why do we make multiple moves and let all the clothes we haven't worn or will ever fit into again move with us? I am still in the process of trying to tidy up my home, but I feel like I am well on my way. I started with clothes, I will slowly ease into everything else. The sorting of paperwork is what is really stressing me out, through cleaning, I am supposed to find peace. We will see about that! I love the look of a nice clean home, I'll update you in a week and let you know how it went for me. Will I give up? I sure hope not.
