Woody Harrelson Revealed His ‘Han Solo’ Character’s Role and Name on ‘The Tonight Show’
Note to all actors: If Jimmy Fallon says “I’m not going to ask you about spoilers” to you, run in the other direction.
Oh sure, this Fallon guy plays all nice and friendly. But let’s get real. All the pleasantries, all those games of beer pong, they’re all just ways to get celebrities to lower their defenses so that they’ll spill the secrets of their projects. The dude’s working the long con here.
Case in point: This appearance by Woody Harrelson on The Tonight Show, where Fallon goes from promising not to probe for details to straight-up begging for any morsel of information about the new Han Solo spinoff in about three and a half seconds. Harrelson, possibly not operating at full mental capacity because he had recently “quit” pot, then spilled his guts, briefly, about the movie:
“I play a guy named Beckett who’s kind of a criminal and mentor to Han. That’s all I can say.”
Harrelson did also say he’ll be shooting the movie in London, under the direction of The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller, until the end of July. Despite his newfound involvement in the galaxy far, far away, Harrelson also admitted he’s no Star Wars nerd:
“I like it. I was never a fanatic. But it’s nice to be a part of it.”
Woody, buddy, this is not the sort of thing you’re supposed to be honest about. You’re supposed to pretend you used to dress up as Chewbacca for Halloween and it was your childhood dream to play Han Solo’s criminal mentor. (I realize you were almost a full-grown man when the first Star Wars came out, but you flub it a little.) Oh well; the still-untitled young Han movie is due in theaters on May 25, 2018. Guys, it’s less than a year away. I do not have a bad feeling about this.
