Zac Brown Band woke New York City up with a whole mess of country music this morning (July 13). The band performed on breakfast TV program ‘TODAY,’ kicking off their three-song set at Rockefeller Center with ‘Keep Me in Mind.’

Every time the camera cut to the crowd — which was full of ladies and gents singing along — you could see dozens of homemade posters being held high by the fans. Brown was asked to pick out his favorite of the fan-designed signs, and the winner would be provided with free concert tickets. There were plenty of elaborate and ZBB-appropriate posters, with ‘Chicken Fried’ references, Jack Daniels bottles and road signs.

“They are all pretty amazing, but the bird cage one is my favorite,” Brown declared, pointing one out. Since the newly dropped ZBB album is called ‘Uncaged,’ it was a good choice for the win.

Before the band performed new single ‘The Wind,’ host Matt Lauer interviewed Brown about a number of things, such as playing Madison Square Garden. Brown said, “It’s huge man. When you can sell out the Garden, you’ve made it. We’re glad to bring our full production show to New York. I plan to levitate that night.”

The singer also spoke about a cause near and dear to his heart, Camp Southern Ground. He said he hopes that April 14, 2013 will be the launch date.

The band then beat the heat by soaring through their hit ballad ‘Colder Weather,’ which closed the set. It was met with plenty of fan praise, swaying, applause and singing along.

Zac Brown Band’s performance was yet another quality way to start a summer weekend!
