Another Cowgirl Takes Mutton Busting Title at Saturday’s Rodeo

There was a packed house Saturday night to watch the final performance of the Angelina Benefit Rodeo. Thousands of folks got to see numerous cowboys and cowgirls who had qualified for previous appearances at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

As usual, the mutton busting competition was one of the fan favorites. Eleven youngsters between the ages of 5 and 9 tried their best to stay on the back of a sheep for at least 8 seconds.

For the third straight night, a cowgirl got to raise the championship trophy. Kaymi Wilson, 7. from Huntington, rode the sheep named 'Ewe Betcha' for 92 points. MJ Woodson wasn't far behind with a ride of 90 points.

Other 80+ point rides included Abraham Nieto (86), Cooper Henry (83), Wiley Whatley (82), and Chloe Hunnicutt (81).
