Twelve bucks for a jumbo-sized bag of Halloween candy?  Scary.  The next thing we know we've spent fifty bucks or more planning for trick-or-treaters, and let's be honest, because we want to hold back a stash for ourselves.  It happens.

Save yourself some stress, and shop these stores for the lowest Halloween candy prices.

I've seen several posts online about the lowest Halloween candy prices, and the general consensus seems to be that these stores have the best deals.

1.  Target

2.  Walmart

3.  Amazon or Costco

Popsugar gives this example:

Mars Chocolate Favorites, 60 Pieces
$9.44 (originally $10.49) at Target
$9.44 on Amazon
$9.98 at Walmart

and these:

Nestlé Assorted Miniature Chocolate Bars, 100 Pieces
$9.44 (originally $10.49) at Target
$9.98 at Walmart
$13.79 at CVS Pharmacy
$35.80 for 2 at Amazon

Sour Patch Kids and Sour Patch Watermelon Mix, 40 Pieces
$4.51 (originally $4.86) at Walmart
$5.29 at Target

The Kitchn has a helpful tip.  They remind us that Target's website lets us see if what we want is in stock and even gives an aisle number, so we can run in and grab it.

The Kitchn also says Walmart can be 45 cents lower than Target on a lot of the bags.  There's a 250-piece Mars Favorites bag at Walmart with Milky Way, Twix, Snickers, 3Musketeers, and M&Ms for $19.54. They also have a Skittles, Starburst, Life Savers, and Hubba Bubba Gum Halloween Candy Grab Bag, including 92 pieces, for $6.

And Costco has a Mini Favorites bag with five pounds of tiny Snickers, Baby Ruths, Butterfingers, and more for $15, according to The Kitchn.

The Sunday paper has had a few manufacturer's coupons for candy this month, and if you can couple those with a good sale, there's more to be saved.  And of course, we could grit out teeth and wait until November 1st and it will all be at a bargain basement price.

Which begs the question, did anyone stock up last year right after Halloween and save all of that candy until this year?  If the kids get some caramel that's a little extra hard and chewy and the chocolate is dry, we'll be suspicious.  And it'll probably end up in that community office candy bowl.

Happy Halloween!
