Mutton Busting at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo
The rodeo will feature crowd favorites like bull riding, barrel racing, a calf scramble, and many more. But, the mutton-busting competition always brings out some of the loudest cheers from the spectators.
Every night of the rodeo, 12 young cowboys and cowgirls aim for the nightly championship trophy by staying on the back of a sheep as it races into the arena.
Registrations are being taken at Boot Barn located at the Lufkin Mall. Riders must be 5 to 9 years of age and weigh under 60 pounds in weight (a scale will be used each night of the rodeo).
The drawing for the twelve nightly mutton busters will take place during the KICKS Road Show at Boot Barn on Tuesday, April 23. The Road Show will take place from 3-5 p.m. and the first drawings will take place just a few minutes after 3. Representatives of the Lufkin Host Lions Club will contact the parents of those chosen.
Forty-six total riders will be drawn at Boot Barn. The other two will be drawn via our KICKS 105 App Contest (enter below). Make sure that you've downloaded our KICKS 105 App and that you have enabled getting contest alerts sent to your phone.
