Alan Jackson Cancels Shows Due to Respiratory Infection
Alan Jackson has issued a statement after he was forced to cancel a pair of performances due to a respiratory infection.
Jackson canceled two recent tours stops that were scheduled for Aug. 16 and Aug. 17, and he was even forced to skip a planned appearance at the ACM Honors in Nashville on Wednesday night (Aug. 22), where he was honored with the Cliffie Stone Icon Award. The ailing legend's oldest daughter, Mattie, was on hand at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville to accept the award on his behalf, as part of a program that also featured co-hosts Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi singing "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow, as well as Chris Stapleton performing "Here in the Real World."
Jackson turned to social media on Thursday (Aug. 23) to offer his thanks for the award, and also revealed the illness that's been causing him to cancel so many appearances.

"And most of all, thank you to my fans for their prayers and well wishes as I continue to recover from a respiratory infection," Jackson finished.
Fifty-nine-year-old Jackson is spending much of 2018 on the road on his Honky Tonk Highway Tour. His next scheduled tour date is on Sept. 14 at North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, S.C.
