The following is a press release issued by Nacogdoches ISD concerning an incident Monday morning on a school bus -

Two female Mike Moses Middle School students are being charged with disorderly conduct after they were involved in a physical altercation at approximately 6:20 a.m. Monday on a Nacogdoches ISD bus.

Nacogdoches ISD police officer Sandra Murray said the 13- and 14-year-old eighth graders were in a disagreement over a posting on a social media Web site, and the altercation was part of an ongoing conflict between the students.

As a precautionary measure, one of the students was taken by ambulance to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation after complaining of head and neck pain.

“Behavior of this nature will not be tolerated at Nacogdoches ISD,” said Grey Burton, associate superintendent of administrative services. “We are reviewing the video tape from the incident and will take appropriate disciplinary measures to discourage any more problems between these students.”

The charge of disorderly conduct for fighting carries a misdemeanor fine of as much as $500. The students also will be suspended from riding the bus. The bus route involved in the incident carries sixth through eighth graders.
