ROLL CALL: First Day of Class for All Deep East Texas Schools
Whether you like it or not, it's getting to be back-to-school time. Some school districts in the Pineywoods will have their first day of class during the first week of August, while others will start two to three weeks into the month.
Factor in the teacher work days and quite a few staff and educators are winding down the last few weeks of their summer vacation.
Last year, Corrigan-Camden 'won the award' for the earliest starting school (August 2), with Kennard just one day behind. This year, Latexo, Onalaska, and Leggett are tied for that 'award' with a starting date of August 5.
Last summer, Central Heights ISD returned to class on August 28). This year, students are heading back on August 21 which means that Central Heights and Fredonia Hill Baptist Academy are the schools with the latest return dates in Deep East Texas.
