GoBankingRates.com recently released a report detailing their top six picturesque American suburbs that could soon become unaffordable. These six cities haven't crossed that threshold just yet, but the price of housing has been skyrocketing thanks to their popularity.

Five of those suburbs are not located in Texas, they include Alexandria, Virginia...Hoboken, New Jersey...Erie, Colorado...the suburbs of Worcester, Massachusetts...Waukee and Grimes, Iowa, and...

Boerne, Texas

Located in the Texas Hill Country just north of San Antonio, Boerne has a population of over 23,000. That number is a bit misleading. Thousands of residents live outside the city limits. I don't have the specific number, but the Boerne 'Metro' area is home to large high schools (Boerne and Boerne Champion).

According to GoBankingRates.com, the median home cost in Boerne was around $400,000 less than five years ago. That's not bad for a highly popular Texas Hill Country residence. That cost has now blossomed to $540,000, and it appears that the 10% yearly rise in home costs in the area will continue. That is why Go Banking Rates believes that by the end of 2025, Boerne could be unaffordable to many who live there and many who want to move there.

For the past three decades, the growth of the San Antonio to Austin corridor along with the adjacent Hill Country was been jaw-dropping. Any travels on Interstate 35 will verify that.

Boerne is just one of many Hill Country cities that continue to have major housing growth. Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Dripping Springs, Wimberly, Marble Falls, and many others have seen a meteoric rise in residents. It's just such a beautiful part of the nation...and it comes with a rising cost.
