I'm guessing that 2026 will be a banner year for Texas fireworks vendors. With this being America's 250th birthday, the demand for fireworks will be much higher than normal. Plus, the Texas Legislature has passed an amendment allowing the sale of fireworks through July 5th, giving vendors an extra 24 hours to sell. That's good news for the fireworks economy, not so much for the many pets who are not a fan of the booming celebrations.

When Are Fireworks Sales Allowed in Texas?

You already know about the sales allowed for New Year's and July 4th, but there are 7 other holidays and/or calendar events when fireworks can be sold in the Lone Star State. Can you name them? I tested myself, and I was only able to come up with a couple more. I remember someone telling me a few years ago that fireworks sales in Texas were allowed for the celebration of Texas Independence Day (March 2nd). Plus, I knew that fireworks stands in Texas were open for sale for Memorial Day.

Outside of New Year's and Independence Day, the 7 other holidays on which fireworks sales are allowed in Texas come with a caveat. The commissioner's court must issue approval for fireworks to be sold in its respective Texas county during these holidays. The banning of fireworks sales due to dangerous conditions, such as dry conditions/drought, also falls upon the authority of county commissioners.

So, take a few minutes to try and come up with as many of the 9 holidays as you can, and then scroll below to see how many you got right.
