Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker took the 2019 CMT Music Awards stage to perform a star-studded tribute to women in country music.

Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman introduced the collaboration. "Last week there were only two female artists on the country airplay top 20. Back in December, it was even worse — there were none. Here's my question, ladies in the house. What do we have to do to get some airplay around here?" Fairchild asks.

The moment called for an iconic song to mark it, and that came in the form of Carlile and Tucker dueting on the classic Tucker made famous in 1972, "Delta Dawn." The hit was written by Larry Collins and Alex Harvey and went to No. 1 on the charts.

That wasn't all, however. The collaboration featured both icons and rising stars in the music industry, featuring Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Lauren Alaina, Deana Carter, RaeLynn and Carly Pearce.

Pearce was nominated for Female Video of the Year for "Closer to You" while Carlile was nominated in the same category for "The Joke."

This isn't the first time Carlile and Tucker have worked together. Carlile is producing Tucker's upcoming album While I'm Livin', her first album in 17 years. Carlile is a huge fan of hers and even shared a video of her singing "Delta Dawn" while getting custom ear molds made for tour.

The 2019 CMT Music Awards aired on Wednesday, June 5, live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
