Cam and Crew ‘Safe’ Following London’s Weekend Terror Attacks
Country singer Cam was in London, England, during Saturday's (June 3) terror attacks, but she and her crew are all okay. The singer posted a message on social media to keep fans in the loop about what was going on.
On Saturday night around 10PM London time, Reuters reports, police began responding to emergency calls about a car that drove onto the sidewalk and into pedestrians on Central London's Westminster Bridge; the three attackers in that car then went to the nearby Borough Market area and began stabbing people. Police shot the three assailants dead because they were wearing what appeared to be -- and what turned out to be fake -- suicide bombing belts.
"Following updates on the #LondonBridge #boroughmarket and #Vauxhall [attacks] from the hotel," Cam tweeted on Saturday night. "We are safe. Heart is hurting for those involved."
Seven people were killed during the two attacks, and 48 people were injured, 21 critically. The incidents occurred less than two weeks after the terrorist bombing outside of Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester, England, and the day before her One Love Manchester benefit concert. In addition to the numerous fans who responded to Cam's tweet, Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott replied: "SO thankful you're safe and praying for #London!!!!!"
Cam and company were in London for a Friday night (June 2) concert at the Tabernacle, located in the West London district of Notting Hill. According to Entertainment Focus, the singer performed an unplugged set that lasted nearly two hours; earlier in the day, she and some fans had tea on a double-decker bus.
Cam will return to the U.S. for a show at the 2017 CMA Music Festival on Saturday (June 10); she will also play at Bonnaroo 2017 on Sunday (June 11). A complete list of her upcoming shows is available on her official website.
