ln 1995, CASA of the Pines was formed in Lufkin to serve the children of families involved in the child welfare system due to allegations of abuse or neglect from Angelina County.

In 1999 the program expanded to Houston County, and Polk County in 2003.  Since 1996 CASA of the Pines has worked with more than 1,500  children and their families in Angelina, Houston, and Polk Counties.

The staff and volunteers at CASA of the Pines are passionate about making the lives of children who have been impacted by the child welfare system better and safer. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained volunteers appointed by a judge to advocate for the needs of children whose families are in crisis and who have entered the child welfare system.

CASA of the Pines exists to train community volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children involved in the court system so that each child is placed in a safe permanent home.

CASA of the Pines is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors and is a member of the National and Texas CASA Associations.

If you are looking for a way to help and support CASA of the Pines, there are many volunteer opportunities that you can pursue through their website.

You can also support them through their online auction that is going on through Thursday evening. Bidding for the CASA of the Pines Auction in Action closes just after 7 p.m., so time is quickly running out to bid out fun and one-of-a-kind items and support this great cause.
