Could There be a Hurricane in the Gulf Late Next Week?

Maybe, but it's still way too early to be sure.

It does look pretty certain that what is now tropical depression 5 should strengthen into Tropical Storm Ernesto in the next 24-48 hours.  This storm system is still out in the Atlantic but looks to be tracking to the Caribbean Sea and could become a hurricane by Monday as it passes near Jamaica.

Once again, this is still subject to a lot of change, but at least it gives us something different to talk about when it comes to the weather.
