Two Huge Travel Plazas To Be Built At Same Intersection in Diboll
In February 2026, the landscape of Diboll underwent a major transformation. That's when the Highway 59 bypass was opened. The amount of traffic going through Diboll on Temple Drive (Business 59), underwent a dramatic reduction. 18-wheelers used to be lined up at the traffic lights in Diboll, but in the numerous times that I have traveled through town over the past 6 months, traffic is down to a trickle.
One of the keys to succeeding in business is to go to where the people are, or in this case, where the motorists are. Since most Highway 59 traffic now bypasses Diboll, it comes as no surprise that businesses are building where that traffic is.
Major Changes Coming For A Diboll Intersection
H.G. Temple Elementary and Middle Schools used to be the end of the line for Lumberjack Drive.

Until recently, it was just a gravel road, but now the intersection of Lumberjack Drive and the Highway 58 Bypass is about to be a travel center mecca. Signage on opposite sides of the intersection indicates two travel centers in the works. The southeast corner will feature a 17,000 Pilot travel plaza with a nationally branded QSR (quick service restaurant). Ground clearing has already started there, and according to their licensing and regulatory paperwork, the $3.6 million plaza should be open by August 2027.
Meanwhile, a new Buzzy Bee travel center will be at the northwest corner. Whataburger will be opening a store inside this Buzzy Bee location. The last I checked, land clearing had not been started. Buzzy Bee also has plans to build a travel plaza at the intersection of Highway 287 and the Highway 59 Bypass in Corrigan.
