East Texas Basketball Bi-District Champs Get Ready for Area Round
We are moving into the second round of Texas high school girls' basketball playoffs, and numerous teams from East Texas have won their bi-district round and are getting ready for the area round of the playoffs.
Here's a Look at Some of the East Texas Bi-district Champs
Class 4A
- Jacksonville
- The Maidens defeated Tyler Chapel Hill 51-34 in first-round action.
- Jacksonville plays 12th-ranked Silsbee at Hudson on Friday at 6 p.m.
- Palestine
- The LadyCats pulled off a huge upset and knocked off Center 71-58 in round one
- Palestine will play Liberty at Lufkin on Friday at 6 p.m.
Class 3A
- Pineywoods Community Academy
- The Timberwolves won a close game against East Chambers 54-50 to claim the bi-district championship
- PCA will now take on 5th-ranked Hitchcock at Humble High School on Friday at 6 p.m.
- Huntington (ranked 22nd in the state)
- The Devilettes were a 62-37 winner over Buna in round one
- Huntington will now take on Van Vleck at Humble Kingwood High School on Friday at 7 p.m.
Class 2A
- Lovelady (ranked 17th in the state)
- The Lady Lions defeated Crossroads in round one 63-48.
- Lovelady will play Crawford at Buffalo HS on Thursday at 6 p.m.
- Broaddus
- The Lady Bulldog took the win against Garrison in round one 62-35
- Broaddus will play Union Grove on Friday at 6 p.m. at Gary HS
- Tenaha (ranked 2nd in the state)
- The Lady Tigers defeated West Sabine 98-10 in round one
- Tenaha will now play Cushing on Thursday at 6 p.m. at New Summerfield HS
- Cushing
- The Galkats defeated McLeod 50-47 in round one.
- Cushing will play 2nd ranked Tenaha as noted above
- Douglass (ranked 21st in state)
- The Lady Indians defeated Harleton in round one 73-20
- In the area round, Douglass will play Chireno on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Central Heights
- Chireno
- The Lady Owls won 52-38 over Timpson in round one
- Chireno will play Douglass as noted above
- Joaquin
- The Lady Ram defeated Woden 31-24 in round one
- Joaquin will now face Hawkins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in New Summerfield
- Big Sandy (Dallardsville)
- The Lady Cats will take on Shiner on Friday at 6 p.m. at Waller HS
Class A
- Brookeland
- The Lady Cats beat Wells 79-32 in first-round action
- Brookeland will now face Oglesby on Friday at 6 p.m. in Latexo
- Slocum
- The Lady Mustangs defeated Spurger in round one 55-17.
- Slocum advances to play Milford on Friday at 6 p.m. at Cross Roads HS
- Zavalla
- The Lady Eagles beat Martinsville 52-43 in round one.
- Zavalla will now play Aquilla on Friday at 6 p.m. at Leon HS
These Texas Schools Will Have the Longest Travel Times for District Football Games
Over 35 Texas High School district football games will require more than 6 hours of round trip travel time. The longest trip will take nearly 5 hours, one way.
