The Lufkin Little League All-Stars are going to the World Series in Williamsport as the Southwest Region Champions.  This marks Lufkin's first trip to the storied event, and the East Texas community is showing their support in numerous ways.

Thursday evening, friends, families, and fans of the team turned out in droves at a fundraiser at the Whataburger on Brentwood in Lufkin.  The 'Thundering 13' were autographing baseballs for over 2 hours straight.  Whataburger donated 100% of sales from that evening (5-8 p.m.) to the All-Stars.

AAA Trophy has designed the officials Lufkin/Southwest Region Championship T-shirt and they are selling those at their location to benefit the team.  A picture of that T-shirt can be seen in the gallery above.

One of the premiere golf destinations in the state has also joined to help.  You can stop by Crown Colony Country Club today and make a $50 donation and that will get you a certificate for a free round of golf plus cart.

Today (Friday) at 5:30 p.m., the ball team and coaches will be featured on city fire trucks as they parade down 1st Street.  The procession will start in front of Jennings Station and end at the Convention Center.  Players and coaches from the team will give some remarks at the outdoor amphitheater at the Convention Center.
