Governor Perry Is Sending Troops To The Texas-Mexico Border
Governor Rick Perry announced Monday he was sending a thousand troops to the border with Mexico to combat the border crisis, and said that process will happen over the next month.
Fox News reported Perry said the state has a responsibility to act after "lip service" from the federal government. The governor has asked the federal government to send National Guard troops to the border to join the three thousand or so border patrol agents that are already there. The deployment of Texas troops will happen gradually, over the next month or so.
The purpose of the additional troops will be to fight criminals that are exploiting children coming into the country.
Governor Perry hasn't ruled out running for President in 2016. Stay tuned.
