Welcome to the Show, Grayson Rodriguez!

A few short years ago, he was turning in dominating performances on the mound at Central Heights.  Now, it looks like the former Blue Devil fireballer and former first-round draft choice will be making his Major League debut...in his home state.

According to a report, Grayson Rodriguez is on his way to Arlington to join his teammates as they close out a series against the Texas Rangers. Why is this sounding more and more like the scene that made me cry from the movie 'The Rookie'?

G-Rod, as he's called, is one of the top pitching prospects in the Minors. He looked to be well on his way to a call-up last year as he mowed down batters at the Triple-A level. However, a grade-2 lat strain sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

At this year's Baltimore training camp, Rodriguez was expected to make a strong bid to make the opening-day Orioles roster. Unfortunately, a couple of tough outings boosted his ERA to over 7, and he was optioned to the Norfolk Tides to start the season.

G-Rod is being called up to fill in the spot for Baltimore starting pitcher Kyle Bradish. He suffered an injury to his foot on a hot shot grounder back to the pitcher's mound.

So, be looking for Rodriguez as he gets the start in Wednesday's game in Arlington. The first pitch is scheduled to take place at 1:05 pm.

Good luck, Grayson...East Texas is extremely proud of you!!
