Groveton ISD to Hold Their Annual Veterans Luncheon on Thursday
Thursday, November 10, area veterans and their spouses are invited to Groveton ISD for their annual Veterans Day Luncheon. The event will be held from 11 am until 1 pm at the Groveton campus on Highway 94.
Students and staff from Groveton Independent School District will be providing a free sit-down meal or drive-through lunch for any Veteran and their spouse or any Active Military Personnel. The sit-down meal will be served up in the Groveton High School auditorium, while the drive-through service will take place in the GISD Bus line.
Groveton ISD staff along with Groveton culinary arts students will be serving up brisket, sausage, potato salad, pinto beans, drinks, and lots of desserts.
Groveton has hosted this event for several years now. They always host the event near Veterans Day but never on November 11. They realize that many Veterans have obligations on Veterans Day and are unable to attend. So they always choose an alternate day to serve them lunch so that there will be maximum attendance.
The Groveton ISD students have taken a great deal of ownership of this event. Every year, students build and create dozens of items including art, wood work, and more which are freely handed out to the veterans that attend this annual event.
The KICKS 105 Road Show will once again be on hand beginning around 10 am to let folks know about the event. We'll be interviewing some of the students and staff from Groveton during the broadcast.
Here's a look back at last year's event.
