Harris County has joined the growing list of Texas counties that have issued a stay at home order to help combat the spread of COVID-19.  At the time of Tuesday morning's press conference, approximately 160 persons in the greater Houston area have been positively diagnosed with the Coronavirus.  Mayor Sylvester Turner stated that he doesn't want to see that number jump exponentially, so that is why he and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued the 'Stay Home-Work Safe Order'.

In a Tweet from her Twitter Page, Judge Hidalgo wrote the following:

Folks should stay home except for essential needs. This moment in history will define our future. History will say we prioritized human life.

The order begins at midnight tonight and continues until April 3rd, at which point, it might be extended.
