Highway 59 in Polk County Closed due to Hazardous Material Spill
(2:53 p.m.) All lanes of US 59 South near Livingston are open to traffic after an earlier spill. Hazardous material crews are still on the scene, but the roadway is clear and open for travel. Drive safely.
(1:27 p.m.) The spill occurred approximately 3 miles south of Leggett. All lanes of US 59 are currently closed. Traffic is being detoured onto LP 116 near Livingston. It is currently not known how long US 59 will be closed. Motorists should expect delays on this two-lane detour that will re-enter US 59 north and south of Livingston. Prepare for delays.

The Texas Department of Transportation is reporting a hazardous material spill on US 59 North in Polk County at the weigh station near Livingston. At the time of this report, (12:50 p.m.), both north and southbound lanes are closed. Haz Mat crews are in route.
