It costs HOW much for a Super Bowl ticket?

The NFL is trying to close the gap between the face value of tickets, and the secondary market.  In other words, if the NFL increase ticket prices, scalpers will make less money and fans won't feel quite so taken advantage of when buying tickets from a ticket resale website.  Or will ticket brokers raise their prices too?

The NFL expects premium tickets to Superbowl XLVIII will double to about $2,600 each.  That's more than twice the $1,250 cost for similar tickets at last season's Super Bowl in New Orleans.  Premium seats will sell for as much as $9000 at face value this year.  There will be some so-so seats that will be available for less than a thousand dollars, according to the NFL.  The Wall Street Journal first reported the increase in ticket prices.

The game will be Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.  The flat screen TV at home with a big bucket of chicken wings is looking pretty good!
