It’s Time for Mouthwatering Waffles in Lufkin, Texas
What do waffles have in common with Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Bo Derek, Howie Mandel, Dwight Yoakam, Nathan Lane, and Maureen McCormick (Marcia from the Brady Bunch)?
They are all 66 years old in 2022.
A Lufkin holiday tradition for over six decades is back for its 66th year. The Lufkin Rotary Club will be hosting the 66th Annual Waffle Bake at the Angelina College Cafeteria on Tuesday, November 29th and Wednesday, November 30th.
Doors open at 5:15 pm and waffles are served from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tickets are only $5 and will be available at the door. You can also purchase them from any Lufkin Rotarian.
The Lufkin Rotary Club Waffle bake is one of the longest-running traditions in East Texas. It's always held the week after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season and live entertainment will be provided by students from St. Cyprian's School.
Your $5 ticket gets you a full meal including a drink. This year you have two options – the cafeteria or the drive-through. For more information follow The Lufkin Rotary Club on Facebook.
For 66 years, the Lufkin Rotary waffle recipe has been a closely guarded secret. Sure, flour, milk, eggs and sugar are some of the standards, but some say that the recipe may have been handed down by elves at the North Pole.
The waffles are so good, they even have their own music video this year.
Here's a look back at some photos from previous Waffle Bake events.
