This may seem a rather odd way to start, but you’re familiar with the phrase ‘Hold My Beer and Watch This’, correct?  I’m sure it must have originated in Texas.  Anyway, hold on to that phrase for a minute.

Over the past few years, we, as a community and society have become more and more divided. This alienation has been driven by politics, pandemic, personal freedoms and other issues too many to mention. Over the past few months, I’ve seen numerous comments on social media that recognize this division as a major problem. To paraphrase:  “It seems that everyone is being hateful to each other, I wish something could be done to stop the hate and bring us together in love and unity.” --- Enter a humble 10-year-old cowboy who steps up and says, “Hold my reins and watch this.”

It has been two weeks to the day since the passing of Legend Williamson.  I, like so many others, had my heart deeply touched by the strength of the Williamson family as well as the outpouring of love and support of thousands in our community.  The legacy of Legend has transformed the hearts and lives of people around the world.

The impact that Legend has made reminds me of the parable of the seed planted in good soil which yields a crop of up to a hundred times what was sown, or in this case, thousands.  It’s up to us to continue to cultivate that soil. As time passes and memories fade, bringing that message of unity over division, and of love over hate, may prove to be very difficult. --- “Hold our bibles and watch this!”
