(KNUE-FM) It’s always great to see East Texas athletes being recognized for the hard work and years of dedication they put in to excel at a sport. Which is why we were excited to hear that Brittany Mahomes will be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletic Hall of Fame class for 2026.

Brittany Mahomes’ Record-Setting Soccer Career

Before Brittany became known as a mom and wife, she was a standout athlete for UT Tyler. She has the second most all-time points scored while playing soccer (78 points), second in goals scored (31), third in game-winning goals (10) and assists (16). She played a total of 74 games for UT Tyler.

Brittany’s 2016 season is known as one of the best seasons in the program’s history as she scored 40 points with 18 goals, and 7 game winning goals. During her remarkable season, she had three goals in four different games.

Hall of Fame Ceremony Details

The other UT Tyler Athletic Hall of Fame inductee is Dr. Howard Patterson, and the 2016 softball team will go into the hall of fame too. The ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, March 28th at 9:00 a.m. at the Green Acres Baptist Church Crosswalk Conference Center in Tyler.

This ceremony is not open to the public and only inductee family members and special guests will be able to attend.

Community Excitement and Local Impact

As you can imagine, there will be lots of people excited to see Brittany back in East Texas as she accepts her award. There is no official word on attendees yet, but many will be watching to see whether Patrick Mahomes will be there.
