According to CBS 19, Pearson Caldwell grew up on 160 acres in Fruitvale and like so many kids spent most of his childhood outdoors. From Family Land to Viral Project

Caldwell began his project in late 2023, and his audience on TikTok has only grown since then. He now has over 915,000 followers and 11.8M likes on his videos. One of the big reasons people love his content is because he is using minimal tools and instead leaning on more traditional techniques. For example, he uses an improvised mechanical system to help him move gigantic logs weighing 2,000 pounds.

Why His Traditional Methods Stand Out

Caldwell says the legacy of pioneers and figures like the Founding Fathers are a major inspiration for his project. The project has come with setbacks and tough physical demands but he is committed to completing the cabin.

In 2025, Caldwell was on the show Naked and Afraid where he was building shelter in Thailand. He said the experience tested him but also gave him confidence in pushing himself to his limit.

Caldwell says the cabin is about halfway done and hopes to have it completed within the next year.
