Lufkin Murders: McCroskey Admits to Killing Saxton & Allen

What started as two co-workers and friends gone missing has played out horribly. Yesterday, just moments after I wrote a story about Robert Saxton and Michael Allen and the possibility of one or both being found, LPD released a shocking video that largely concludes the investigation.

The video starts with Lieutenant Mike Shurley, who introduces himself and outlines many new revelations in this multi-state, multi-jurisdictional case. The first admission was that the body found in Louisiana was that of Robert Saxton, and the one in Nacogdoches was Michael Allen.

The officer went on to state that Michael Allen and now dual murder suspect John McCroskey were both living at a car lot owned by Robert Saxton, and they all knew each other.

Lufkin PD Kept Investigation Close To The Vest From The Start

They suspected foul play early in the investigation, which is why many details were withheld, and information was released only when the public's assistance was necessary in this double homicide. They arrested McCroskey on charges of using Mr. Saxton's debit card without his knowledge.

Once in custody, they continued the investigation and found Saxton's body by using cell phone data that led to the area in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.

On March 25, McCroskey agreed to take officers to the location of Allen's body off Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches County. McCroskey admitted to killing both men and stated he acted alone.
