SpringFEST is a kickoff for the spring season and a general celebration of spring in Deep East Texas. The 2024 free event was to be held at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center in the plaza outside.

The reason for the venue change this year was the construction in downtown Lufkin where the event was traditionally held. This would also have put the event between the Convention Center and the Museum of East Texas.

Now a threat of a 70% chance of rain has called off the entire event, and the city has no availability to reschedule.

Saturday's SpringFEST canceled in Lufkin, Texas

Jessica Pebsworth, the City of Lufkin communications director, sent a press release Friday, April 19th to announce the bad news.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of tomorrow’s SpringFEST event due to a 70% chance of thunderstorms and rain.

The press release went on to explain why the event would not be rescheduled.

Because this is a busy time of year, we are not able to reschedule but look forward to seeing everyone at the next city-sponsored event on July 4th at Ellen Trout Park.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
