Ellen Trout Zoo Boo Friday Night Costume Contest

It was perfect weather in Deep East Texas for a night out with the animals. The Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin, Texas hosted their first night of the Zoo Boo on Friday, October 18, 2024.

The best part of the event is hanging out with the animals when the zoo is closed. Some animals get going at night and is always a treat.

If you missed last night's event, don't worry; another one is tonight, October 19. Everyone usually arrives a little after 5 PM and the event is from 6 PM until 8 PM.

Zoo Boo Presented By Wright GMC

This year was the first time you could get tickets online for the Zoo Boo. You could also sign up for the Halloween costume contest in advance.

A few of the attendees took advantage of the online registration and enjoyed being the first few in line. Registration has closed online. Register for tonight's contest at the entry tables.

You can also get tickets there at the table before you come in. Some kids come both nights, one for the costume contest and one to play games and get lots of candy walking around to the different booths.

While talking with the judges at the table we talked about how many years some of us had participated in the event. Some had been a part of Zoo Boo for over 20 years.  It started 34 years ago in 1989 and the tradition has continued.
