Once again, we are at the beginning of Hurricane Season. Every year at this time, even though Texas is usually - USUALLY - spared from the worst storms, we start keeping a closer eye on the weather predictions, just in case.

This is also the time of the year that we start keeping an eye on the storm names. Part of this is because we want to see how bad each storm gets and whether they'll be that memorable. Another reason is because we want to know if our family members and friends' names are associated with the season. Well, this year's official name list is live, and it's got some interesting names on it.

NOAA Hurricane Season Prediction for 2026

According to an article from the NOAA website, they are predicting a below-normal hurricane season, with eight to fourteen named storms. Out of those, three to six are predicted to become hurricanes, with one to three major hurricanes. That means that hopefully the whole list won't be used this year. Last year, the entire list didn't get used either. It only went through 13 storms, with Melissa being the final one of the season.

We'll just have to see how 2026 goes. Personally, I'd be alright with no storms at all, but that's just me.
