SHREVEPORT, LA-

Woman arrested on multiple firearms charges after altercation with store clerk

In the early hours of November 25, at approximately 5:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to an armed person complaint in the 5100 block of Monkhouse Drive. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a heated altercation involving a firearm between a female, identified as 30-year-old Shannon Edwards, and a clerk inside a local business.

During the dispute, Edwards reportedly brandished a handgun, escalating the situation. A vigilant customer inside the store averted a potential crisis as they successfully disarmed Edwards without incident. Subsequently, officers apprehended Edwards, who now faces serious charges.

Shannon Edwards has been arrested for the following offenses:

1. Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

2. Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

3. Carrying a Concealed Weapon

4. Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance

5. Entering and Remaining After Being Forbidden

6. Simple Battery

This incident underscores the critical role community members play in maintaining public safety although we do not suggest putting oneself in harm's way. We are thankful that this incident did not escalate further.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
