(Mix 93-1) It's the FINAL WEEK for the national 'Clear The Shelters 2025' campaign. The nationwide program began on August 1st and will wrap up this Sunday. Clear The Shelters has a lofty goal of having empty animal shelters nationwide by the end of the month.

What Is Clear The Shelters?

As it stands right now, participating East Texas animal shelters are caring for some cute and adorable animals who need families and individuals to step up and adopt them so they can have a life outside the shelter.

There are hundreds of puppies and dogs, kittens and cats, along with other surrendered animals that need a new loving home. According to KXAN, this is the 11th year for the pet adoption campaign. Over the last decade, more than 100,000 animals have been adopted each year from shelters or rescue facilities thanks to this awareness event.

Some East Texas animal shelters are nearing capacity, and these animals are just looking for a new lease on life with a fresh start — especially puppies and kittens beginning life. Stop by a local East Texas animal shelter or rescue organization and meet the animals looking for a new home.

Some shelters may waive adoption fees with qualifying donations.

Other Ways You Can Help Shelters

If, for some reason, you can't open your home or apartment to a loving pet, you can support the campaign with a monetary donation to your local animal shelter or rescue. These facilities are in constant need of supplies like food, bedding, and cleaning materials, and any donation would help these organizations out.
