It's not very often that you have notables such as State Representative Travis Clardy, Head SFA Basketball Coach Kyle Keller, and General Hospital star Brad Maule be at your beck and call, but this Thursday night (8/25), it's going to happen.

The Liberty Bell Bar in downtown Nacogdoches will be hosting 'Cocktails for a Cure' benefiting the American Cancer Society from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Celebrity waiters will be working one hour shifts and trying to get the patrons at their table(s) to tip as much money as possible.  Of course, all tips go to help fight cancer.  The cover charge of $10.00 will include two drinks, appetizers, and entertainment by Joe Cuellar.

There will be a raffle of a beautiful necklace from Lufkin Jewelry on the Square, cute t-shirts for sale, the opportunity to purchase memorials, and also to sponsor a pig for the fun Pig Races at the Cattle Baron's Gala in October.

Here's the line up of celebrity servers:

5:30 - 6:30

  • Jeff Patterson (Nacogdoches Medical Center, CEO)
  • Joe Pettigrew (Nacogdoches Memorial Health, Chief Administrative Officer)
  • Brad Maule (Dr. Tony Jones from General Hospital)

6:30 - 7:30

  • Jeff Davis (City of Nacogdoches Attorney)
  • Travis Clardy (State Representative, District 11)
  • Rusty Rust (Commercial Bank of Texas, CEO)

7:30 - 8:30

  • Eddy Furniss (Nacogdoches physician and baseball superstar)
  • Kyle Keller (Head SFA Lumberjack Basketball Coach)
  • Laura Sadler (KTRE Sports Director)
  • Danny Merrell (KICKS 105 DJ and basically selected to round out the number of servers)

Some of my friends expressed concern that I could drop drinks or food on them, so I have enlisted the help of my oldest daughter to be my courtesy server.  Thank you, Chandler!!

Not only do you have the opportunity to support a great cause, but the food at the Liberty Bell Bar is absolutely top notch.  This should make your mouth water.  Check out their menu here.
