Lufkin Fire Department Introduces a New Way to Teach Fire Safety

The Lufkin Fire Department has a new addition that takes the message of fire safety well beyond 'stop, drop, and roll'. When it comes to teaching children what to do during a fire at their home, Lufkin firefighters are bringing the house, literally. This new inflatable safety fire house offers a more immersive, hands-on approach to educating kids about what they should and should not do in the event of a fire at their home.

What's In The Inflatable Safety Fire House?

This four-room smokehouse measures 22 feet long, 17 feet deep, and 15 feet tall. The fire house meets full ADA compliance requirements, ensuring a spacious, accessible, and inclusive environment for all participants. Its realistic simulations provide opportunities for kids and their families to learn how to respond safely and confidently in the event of a fire at their house.

According to Lufkin Fire Chief Jesse Moody, the new safety house will be taken to area schools, community events, and education programs. Moody emphasized the importance of this new tool for advancing fire safety, "This fire house is one of the most effective ways to teach children fire safety. It enhances their understanding of the dangers of fire. We also expect this to help reduce the number of fires children start using matches and lighters."

With this inflatable house and other tools, the Lufkin Fire Department continues its commitment to proactive fire prevention, community engagement, and meaningful public education.
