Severe weather is in the forecast for Deep East Texas this evening and overnight as a trough of low pressure is making its way eastward.  In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10pm (Tuesday) for parts of the Pineywoods.

Counties in the watch area include Angelina, Nacogdoches, Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Rusk, and Cherokee counties.   Houston, Trinity, Polk, and other counties to the south of Lufkin are NOT included.

A tornado watch means that atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms which could include heavy rains, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.  As of 2pm, radar indicated strong to severe storms across southern Oklahoma, the D/FW Metroplex, and around the ArkLaTex, in fact, a tornado warning has been issued for an area just to the west of Texarkana.
