Lufkin Police Officer Injured While Making Arrest
A Lufkin man, Robert Sheddan, has been arrested and charged family assault and resisting arrest. In the scuffle that occurred while resisting the arrest, a police officer was slightly injured. Here are the details at noted by the Lufkin Police Department's media release:
Suspect Robert Sheddan assault his girlfriend by choking her. Sheddan fled on-foot from the area prior to officers arriving at the scene but was seen by an Angelina Co SO Deputy being picked up by a white vehicle. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Ford Chapel at Preston Road. A Lufkin PD Officer and the Deputy went to the passenger side of the vehicle and told Sheddan to step from the vehicle as he was under arrest. Sheddan attempted to flee from the officers but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Sheddan used force against the officers when they attempted to restrain him, refusing to comply with officers’ orders to stop resisting and place his hands behind his back. Sheddan was taken into custody but an LPD officer suffered abrasions to his elbow and contusions to his knee and hip. Sheddan was booked into Angelina County Jail for Assault (Family Violence, Impeding Breathing/Circulation) and Resist Arrest, Search, or Transport.
