Jakwan Jackson was arrested Thursday for his participation in the shooting in the 200 block of Finley Street. Jackson, 26, has been charged with Felony 3 deadly conduct. Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers made the arrest in Denton, and Jackson will be transferred to the Angelina County Jail. The arrest was possible through continued investigative assistance of the Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, and the Huntsville Police Department.
Details Of The Shooting
On April 28, around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls of gunshots. Residents had gathered in an area on Finley, and through discussions with the group, officers discovered an argument over a parking space and loud music after hours escalated to gunfire between individuals. According to witnesses, it was an ongoing issue, and suspects came to the area in a vehicle and began to shoot at the apartment. One man believed to be involved was detained on site for questioning. He was not arrested. Other suspects were gone prior to officers’ arrival.
Jackson was one of the individuals who had left the scene. Detectives began a search for him and recently discovered he was living in an apartment in Huntsville. After obtaining a search warrant, Lufkin Police, with the help of the Huntsville SWAT team, Thursday served the warrant. Jackson was not in the apartment; however, detectives were able to determine he was working with a trucking company and was near Denton. Detectives notified DPS in Dallas, and Troopers made the arrest.
In the investigation of the April shooting, bullet holes were found on the outside of the residence where one of the individuals in the argument is believed to live, as well as bullet holes appearing to come from inside the residence. Numerous shell casings were found in the roadway and the grass. Windows of two nearby vehicles and a window of one of the apartments had been shot.

An AR-15, identified as a weapon used in the altercation, was taken into evidence along with other weapons in one of the apartments. Officers walked through the area and talked with residents to ensure no one was injured in the incident.
Detectives will continue their investigation and the search for others involved.
