This weekend, there is a pretty big event going on in Nacogdoches. This event brings hundreds of people into Nac for one purpose. Would you happen to know what that one particular purpose is? Any ideas?

Plants.

Now, while that may sound funny to some people, it's actually a legitimate thing. This weekend is the bi-annual SFA Plant Sale. It happens twice a year (hence, the "bi-annual" tag). This sale takes place on the first Saturday of every April, and the first Saturday of every October. And yes, this weekend is the first Saturday of October.

It all kicks off at 9:00 AM at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, at 2900 Raguet Street. If you're unfamiliar with Nacogdoches, that's next door to Raguet Elementary, and just down the street from Homer Bryce Stadium. The sale will go until 2:00 that afternoon.

This sale features over 300 - yes, that's three with two zeroes - varieties of plants. According to the SFA Gardens Facebook page, the sale is composed of "hard-to-find, 'Texas-tough' plants, including natives, edibles, heirlooms, perennials, shrubs and trees, with an emphasis on pollinator-friendly selections, as well as exclusive SFA introductions."

So, if you're a fan of plants, whether you've got a green thumb or not, this is definitely something to go check out this Saturday. If you want to do a bit of research beforehand, you can check out the full list of plants - complete with descriptions - from the SFA Gardens Facebook page.

So do you're research, put it in your calendar, and make plans to be out at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center this Saturday morning!
