East Texas Outlook: Summer Heat Returns to Close Out September
The cool front that blew into East Texas during the first week of September was a welcome (and rare) relief to the usual 90+ degree heat...but, we knew it wouldn't last.
Welcome Back, Summer
Thanks to the cloud cover and showers from the outer bands of Hurricane Francine, much of eastern Texas has stayed in the 80s over the past few days, but get ready for the return of summer.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s for this upcoming weekend with little or no chance of rain. In fact, the latest forecasts from the Climate Prediction Center are pointing to above-average temperatures for East Texas for the remainder of the month.
What Are The Average Temps For The Second Half Of September?
According to the National Weather Service, the average high temperatures for East Texas from September 13-21 are in the high 80s, and from September 22 until the end of the month, we average high temps from 85-87.
The daily temperature forecast from the Global Forecast System is predicting high temperatures well into the 90s for East Texas well into the last week of this month.
It looks like a cool front may start pushing its way across Texas during the last few days of September, but keep in mind that this is a medium to long-range forecast, and these do have a tendency to morph a bit.
The Climate Prediction Center is also forecasting below-average rainfall for the rest of the month.
