Let's do lunch today (Wednesday) at McWilliams and Son Heating and Air Conditioning in Lufkin.  From 11-1, the KICKS 105 Road Show and Grill 105 will be serving up delicious hamburgers featuring freshly custom ground beef from Massingill's Meat Market.

To get your burger plate, just make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.  We'll have folks set up in the parking lot with purple buckets taking the money so that you can just drive through if you'd like.  There is not a minimum donation per burger, however, we would highly discourage bringing a carload of folks and handing over a few dollars and then asking to feed all the folks in the car...just saying.

We are doing this fundraiser on the Summer Solstice - the longest day of the year.  To an Alzheimer's patient, every single day can be the longest day since the concept of time can be lost. 1 in 3 people will die this year from Alzheimer’s Disease.  Many of us will lose a precious grandparent, parent, brother, sister, aunt or uncle to this terrible epidemic. Alzheimer’s is a crisis and a burden to many families right here in east Texas! Caregivers spend countless, unpaid hours of their life helping their family member suffering from Alzheimer’s just survive and thrive as normal as possible. The Longest Day campaign is all about love. Love for all those affected by Alzheimer's disease. On the summer solstice, McWilliams and Son Heating and air is teaming up with the Alzheimer’s Association to raise funds to help end Alzheimer’s Disease.

More than 5 MILLION Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today! It’s the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and kills more people than Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer combined. Every 66 Seconds, someone in the USA is diagnosed with this disease.  It’s a Crisis and we need to make a difference in the research and eradication of this disease.

“Our family was deeply affected by Alzheimer’s through our Maw Maw Maxey,” says Marketing director, Crystal Williams, “She was our Maw Maw, our summer sweetheart that loved on us, cooked for us with love and sang little songs for us while we grew up. Our world was turned upside down when she began suffering from debilitating memory loss. I watched my mom spend countless days and hours tending to her with love and patience.  We miss our Maw Maw, Armatha, like crazy! We do this for her! She is the reason we have our Purple Van!”
