Outstanding News for East Texas!

Wonderful news for the Nacogdoches and the East Texas economic community was revealed today. According to a press release from the Nacogdoches Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO), Eaton Cooper Power Systems LLC and (NEDCO) announce the expansion of the Eaton manufacturing facility at 2315 SE Stallings Drive. Eaton plans to invest over $100 million dollars to build an additional 243,000-square-foot facility to manufacture voltage regulators.

Larissa Philpot-Brown, NEDCO President and CEO, stated that once the expansion of the Eaton manufacturing facility is complete, it will generate over 200 high-paying jobs, with an average annual salary of over $67,000. When fully operational, the expanded facility will have a more than $500 million annual economic impact.

State and local partners have been working on the project for over a year and today’s announcement reflects the hard work and commitment to growing the local economy. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced today the Texas Enterprise Fund is awarding the project $1.962 million, a significant investment by the state to the East Texas economy.

“The expansion of Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems location in Nacogdoches is a major win for hardworking East Texans, bringing investment to the community,” said Governor Abbott. “Growing Texas’ capabilities in this industry supply chain and investing in energy infrastructure is critical to cementing our state’s position as a global energy leader.”

Eaton Senior Vice President Guillaume Laur stated “The strong labor market and partnership with the Nacogdoches community helped guide our decision to invest here and continue our decades-long commitment to manufacturing in East Texas.”

In addition to the State of Texas, both the Nacogdoches County Commissioners Court and the Nacogdoches City Council met and authorized incentives to Eaton for this expansion project.

“Cooper Power Systems and Eaton have a long history of strong growth and community partnership in Nacogdoches,” said County Judge Greg Sowell, “and we look forward to continuing that partnership.”

Nacogdoches Mayor Randy Johnson stated, “Today marks an exciting milestone for Nacogdoches as we celebrate Eaton Corporation’s decision to expand its existing facility here, bringing with it the promise of more than 200 new jobs for our talented workforce.”

“NEDCO’s board of directors are to be commended for their personal dedication and continued financial support for economic development that allows the organization to work tirelessly to bring projects like Eaton to the community,” stated NEDCO Chairman Robert Flores. “Anytime a community is successful in attracting a project this size, many partners have played a significant role. This project would not have happened without the Texas Enterprise Fund supported by the Governor, Texas Senator Robert Nichols, State Representative Travis Clardy, the Nacogdoches County Judge and Commissioners, and the Nacogdoches Mayor and City Council.”

Officials are expected to break ground in October on this expansion project.
