Nacogdoches Citizens’ Police Academy Now Taking Applications
Every year, the Nacogdoches Police Department offers area residents the opportunity to learn more about our local law enforcement community. This program provides citizens with an excellent chance to get an up-close experience with our local police department.
The Nacogdoches Police Department will host a Citizens’ Police Academy.
The Academy is a 14-week program designed to educate citizens about the Nacogdoches Police Department and Law Enforcement.
“This community outreach program allows participants an in-depth look into law enforcement, learn about our policies and procedures, and get to know our officers”, said Sgt. Brett Ayres, who serves as the coordinator for the program. “It is designed to educate citizens on why we make certain decisions or handle situations in a particular way”.
Applications are now being accepted. The deadline for applications is January 18th, 2024. The program begins on February 5th with graduation scheduled for May 6th. Classes will be held at the police department from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each Monday night. There is no cost to attend.
The class is limited to 25 students. Applications may be picked up at the police station or by emailing the coordinator at Ayresb@nactx.us.
In other news from the Nacogdoches Police Department, the community is asked to give a big welcome to the police department's two newest police officers, Ethan Kaye and Ivan Flores-Moore.
Both officers recently took their oaths and are about to begin the Department's field training program. The Nacogdoches Police Department is proud to have them join our family in serving the oldest town in Texas!
