It's fairly common to do business with people via social media. You know how it works, they post something for sale online, you tell them that you are interested in whatever the item is, you both agree on a place to meet, money is exchanged, and that's that.

Sometimes, this process can get a bit sketchy, especially if you don't know the person and you're set to meet in some unfamiliar location. And, let's face it, a parking lot doesn't make it much less sketchy even if it is in public.

Well, Nacogdoches PD has stepped up to make these kind of exchanges less sketchy. They now have a designated portion of their front parking lot at the department monitored by surveillance cameras 24 hours a day, seven days a week specifically for this purpose. It's called an Exchange Zone, and you can now meet up with people anytime to make exchanges. And, it's not specifically for buying and selling. You can also meet up to take care of things such as custody exchanges. This change all took place today. Here's the post from the Nacogdoches Police Department Facebook page:

I don't know about you, but I personally think this is a pretty awesome idea, and think that it's awesome that Nac PD stepped up to make it possible. Well done, NPD!
