There is reason to celebrate at the Nacogdoches Police Department.  One office in particular is at the epicenter of this celebration.  There are balloons, signs, and ribbons adoring the office of Nacogdoches Police Sergeant Al Patterson.  Why the celebration?  Because prayers have been answered.

Earlier this year in August, the Nacogdoches Police Department asked the community to extend their thoughts and prayers for Sgt. Patterson.  He had contracted COVID-19 and his prognosis was not looking good.  He was originally placed in ICU, but, then, he had to be transported to a hospital in the D/FW area due to the critical nature of his condition.  His wife and teenage daughter were not allowed to be in the room with him due to COVID protocols.

A BBQ fundraiser for Sgt. Patterson and his family was held in mid-September to help offset medical costs.  The event was sold out in less than an hour.  Over the next several weeks, we were given encouraging details of the small steps of his recovery. He was still very sick, but there was more and more reason to hope.

Earlier today, on their Facebook Page, the Nacogdoches Police Department delivered the news that we all prayed to see one day:

We are happy to announce to the community that today Sgt. Al Patterson has returned to Full Duty serving the Nacogdoches Community! Sgt. Patterson wanted to convey just how much he and his family appreciates all the love and support shown to their family. We are happy to have him back and couldn't resist doing a little decorating!

What does the Bible say about generosity?  "It is more blessed to give than to receive."  Sgt. Patterson is putting those actions into words as you may notice some growth on his face.  He is supporting Harold's House by contributing a donation during our the NPD"s no shave November and December. Anyone that wants to donate to the Harold's House can come to the front lobby during normal hours and drop it off.

God is good...all the time.
