Somebody tell the Old Woman Who Lives in the Shoe that she may want to upgrade to the Cowboy Boot House, now available for rent in the heart of Huntsville, Texas.

You may have heard of living in a boathouse, but a boot house?  Absolutely!

This one-of-a-kind home design is just one of the whimsical masterpieces of Dan Phillips, owner and founder of the Phoenix Commotion, which is "a local building initiative created to prove that constructing homes with recycled and salvaged materials has a viable place in the building industry. This process uses only apprentice labor and teaches marketable skills to anyone with a work ethic who is willing to swing a hammer. By keeping labor costs low and using donated or found materials, the homes created are truly affordable. No two are alike due to the myriad of materials used, so there is an artistic element that makes Phoenix Commotion homes unique."

The owners of the Cowboy Boot House are longtime supporters and friends of Phillips.  They owned 2 lots in between 2 homes on 11th Street in Huntsville that he had restored.  They asked Phillips to develop a plan for both lots to display his amazing work.

The house will be move-in ready by February.  The owners hope to rent to an artist with a portfolio, but it is open to the general public as well.  Soon, Dan Phillips will begin work on a 'Cowboy Hat House' right next door.

This YouTube video provides a great insight into the origin of the Boot House as well as the driving force behind Dan Phillips' construction projects.
