Polk County Issues Voluntary Evacuation

Judge Sydney Murphy has issued a voluntary evacuation order effective immediately for Polk County.  A hurricane warning was issued earlier this morning for the county meaning that residents in cities such as Livingston, Dallardsville, and Onalaska could experience hurricane force winds (greater than 74 mph) beginning late Wednesday and lasting through Thursday morning.

The order asks residents who may live in sub-standard or compromised housing to consider evacuating to a safer place.  Judge Murphy indicated that some residents still have not been able to rebuild to proper standards following the devastating tornado which struck parts of the county in April.

Once again, this is a voluntary evacuation.
