Sara Evans has announced that she will release a new album in July of 2017. The project is the first via her self-owned Born to Fly Records.

Evans' eighth studio album is titled Words, and it's set for release on July 21. The project reunites Evans with producer Mark Bright, who produced her Born to Fly album as well as her most recent studio album, 2014's Slow Me Down.

Words features contributions from 14 female songwriters, including Ashley Monroe, Caitlyn Smith, Hillary Lindsey, Hillary Scott, Liz Hengber, Sonya Isaacs and Evans herself.

"When I’m listening to a song, it’s the lyrics and the stories they tell that matter most to me,” Evans says in a press release. “Not only is ‘Words’ the title to one of the songs on my album but in listening to new music for the record, I was always looking for lyrics that moved me and expressed a powerful range of emotions. Women are natural storytellers and I’m proud to have so many amazing female songwriters represented on this record."

Tracy Gershon provided A&R direction for the new album, and Evans' 14-year-old daughter, Olivia, sang some background vocals on the recording.

Limited edition fan packages are available for pre-order beginning on May 2. Pricing starts at $11.99, and there are a variety of bundles, ranging from a signed CD or vinyl version of Words to a Sara Evans T-shirt, journal, mug or acoustic guitar.

Evans was reported to have split from Sony in February of 2016, and she announced a new deal with Sugar Hill in August of that year. It's unclear what happened with that deal, but she announced the launch of Born to Fly Records in April of 2017. The label takes its name from Evans' career-changing album and song from 2000.

"I wrote that song about my own life, coming to Nashville and following my dreams," she says. "It’s a dream come true to surround myself with my own team and truly embrace my entrepreneurial spirit, taking complete control of my career and brand is so freeing. I can’t wait to share this new project with everyone."
