See How Area Schools Scored in 2018 State Accountability Ratings

Wednesday morning (August 15th), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the 2018 state accountability ratings for 1,200 school districts and district charters.  Many superintendents, administrators, school boards, and teachers do not put a lot of merit into these ratings, with their main concern being the criteria for the ratings system.  While some of the methodology uses good academic measures, there are many other factors involved in preparing a child for life beyond the classroom that are not gauged.

But, according to the TEA website, parents are encouraged to view online report cards as a tool to see how a school or school district is doing in different areas. The report cards spotlight specific strengths, in addition to any challenges, that can assure the needs of all students are being met. Campuses receive a rating based on performance in three areas: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.
